The purpose of this study is to fi nd out the effect of the jump set on set efficiency, offense efficiency, number of players in the block, its relationship with reception and dig efficiency, type of attack and efficiency of the play. The sample was composed of six female players, position setter, (two from Spain junior national level, two from Spain senior national level and two from international senior level). A descriptive, transversal and intergroup study design was used. The variables studied were: level of competition (junior national, senior national and senior international), set efficiency, type of set, reception or dig efficiency, attack efficiency, number of blockers, spike tempo, phase and result of the play. The following conclusions can be established from the results obtained: a) at higher levels of competition, there is a higher use of the jump set; b) the use of the jump set involves a higher set efficiency, higher attack efficiency and higher use of quick attacks; c) when there is higher reception/dig efficiency, there is a higher use of the jump set; and d) the use of the jump set does not involve an increase in the efficiency of the play.Downloads
