This article belongs to the PhD thesis “From energy efficiency towards ecological redundancy. Survey and new syntax of architectural hybrids” defended by the author in February 2014. The research aims to find the correspondence between hybridization technique in architecture design and its ecological performance. These terms, related to form and performance, are traditionally placed on opposite poles of the creative process; this apparent disconnection is however considered strategically in terms of a possible complementarity, because ecological architecture lacks a formal consensus to the same extent there is no evidence of a specific performance of that architecture defined as “hybrid”. The text seeks for transferring the concepts of contextual form, efficient form and attractive form towards the proceedings of adjacency, differentiation and dimensional repercussion. A new independency not defined by standardization and efficiency, but rather by differentiation and redundancy.Downloads
