El tiempo detenido. The bibliographical and documentary collection of the architect Mariano Estanga y Arias-Girón during his time as a student at the School of Madrid (1889-1900)

Abstract

The working materials of architects are of great interest to those who study in depth the creative processes involved in the activity of designing. This work focuses on the analysis and classification of the bibliographic collection of the student period at the School of Madrid and the bibliographic legacy of the professional studio of Mariano Estanga y Arias-Girón, an important figure in the architecture developed in the Canary Islands since 1900. For more than eight decades his professional office remained unchanged in the family home since his death. Due to space limitations, only the material related to his training period is presented here. The documentation relating to the projects now located in his professional studio will be analysed in future works.
