Abstract

So far little has been explained about the design systems used by Spanish organic architects. On numerous ocasions this lack of explanation has made these architectures appear as arbitrary, formal and personalistic exercises, when we could probably find criteria for action in all of them. Here we investigate and explain the strategies that one of them, the architect Curro Inza, uses in his projects. This text defends that Inza establishes a (rational) method to develop his works, but at the same time superposes a series of parallel strategies that try to incorporate the irrational thing to the architecture. Parallel strategies include all the “anomalies” that must incorporate the Project as fantasy, the wrong, the surprising and the time. Discovering these categories (which are surprising for their contemporaneity) is crucial to understand their architecture.
