Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the opinion of the professionals about the physical test most commonly used in tennis and its characteristics. A questionnaire of opinion about the tennis tests was done. The sample consisted of 17 professionals of education and training in tennis. The rating criteria were: adequacy of each test in each context, age criteria, utility, functionality, and comparability. From the results it was concluded that: a) general test are perceived as possessing greater suitability to the context of physical education and sport initiation and b) the specific tests are more suitable for the stages of improvement and performance. These results may help when coaches evaluate players throughout his sporting life.
