The aim of this paper is to know how it has been designed the mentoring process in the training of expert basketball coaches. We have used qualitative methodology, using the semistructured interview. A total of sixteen spanish coaches of wide renown and taken into consideration as experts. The results show as the sixteen coaches, during their training, have had one or several mentors who have contributed significantly to their training. Six of the coaches interviewed stressed this medium as the most important formative among others. However, in all cases, this mentoring process has been on an informal basis and not regulated, cause it occurs in assistantships. Normally, the apprenticeship is through observation and imitation. Therefore, it would be important that the clubs, federations and institutions organize this media training so important.Downloads
