Abstract

The architecture of the 20th century reached the peripheral territories of the peninsula in a limited way. Wherever they took root, they were the vehicle for disseminating the ideas of modern architecture in places anchored in constructive inertia and a misunderstood architectural tradition. This is the case of the Universidad Laboral de Toledo, projected by Fernando Moreno Barbera, that was built looking towards the historic city in the 1970s. The article points out the project mechanisms linked to the architectural styles of that time and how these are used to adapt the work to a particular physical context and in accordance with the values of the traditional architecture of the place.
