Abstract

From the 1960s onwards, a series of architectural experiences in Spain, that converge with international movements of the moment, highlight the growing interest in search of new repertoires or revision of traditional ones leaning towards the consideration of the environment in the generation of new spaces for life. This study aims to reveal the genuine approaches establish by the Spanish architects Fernando Higueras and Antonio Miró in terms of the adequacy of their architecture to the environment. Far from technological fascination and utopian component introduced by lines of international influence, Fernando Higueras and Antonio Miró recover strategies of the Mediterranean tradition. Atriums, or atmospheric insularities, terraces and vertical gardens are freed from the weight of culture. Their use is systematized in terms of their capacity to respond to the environment.
