Abstract

Our urban surroundings and their relational spaces represent an opportunity to rethink the relation between the acts of designing and living. First of all, it becomes relevant to devise second lives for our surroundings and obsolete architectures. This thought has to go with the aim to dismiss the visual dictatorship of the avant-gardes, guilty of objectifying architecture as an exercise of surprise for the view. Moreover, there is a need for reorganizing the plans and the relational fields of what we call public architecture, which could consist in the formulation of the supports. Last but not least, it is necessary to strengthen the dreams and desires of living in the domestic space, through concepts like that of the “productive house”, open to daily alteration and life’s changes.
