A material approach to the contemporary architecture of Paraguay

Over the last twenty years, contemporary architecture in Paraguay has established a new focus on what can be called the new Latin American architecture, introducing material honesty as a key design variable. This article aims to explore the material dimension in contemporary Paraguayan architecture, highlighting the active role local artisans play as part of a creative and collaborative process based on the ongoing exchange of construction experiences with architects. This study will analyze cases categorized according to the specific actions artisans perform on the material.
