Five projects – four of them unpublished – of the young José Antonio Corrales are described. Also one of his unpublished poems of those years. Solo projects between 1954 and 1957. They discover their constant search for what will be their future architecture. Five projects that in their diversity of scale and program allow us to look at the common tools used. The section begins to respond to the land, program, material and construction, anticipating the Corrales that will come.
The section used as a system, and its elaborate handling of the scale. The simultaneous unitary and episodic section, its constructive ingenuity taking to the limit materials and solutions, spatial contrasts in section through games of scale and material, the parallel work of plant and section until almost its coincidence. These are some of the qualities of its architecture that are related here and show its beginnings in these unknown projects.
An understanding of the architecture of José Antonio Corrales, vital and enthusiastic that in his efforts and perseverance will be perfected and becoming a sign of identity. These lines turned into a retrospective look, allow us to understand more deeply his work. Take the first steps here the architecture of the young Corrales.
