Abstract

3D printing for construction is an emerging technology. Especially regarding materials and procedures, there is still space for large improvements. The specificity of the building sector, along with its associated costs and lack of standardizes procedures play an important role in the definition of design and fabrication techniques. The paper presents an innovative methodology to transcend these limitations through a simple yet efficient workflow that includes both an integrative software paradigm and an optimized material approach. Moreover, an integration between design and fabrication combining robotics-oriented production and fused deposition is discussed.
