About the Journal

REIA is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to the critical study of architecture across its theoretical, technical, political, and cultural dimensions. Indexed in Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (E1), in Latindex, and Dialnet (M1), the journal provides an international platform for publishing original research, speculative projects, and interdisciplinary perspectives that engage with the built environment in its broadest sense.

REIA operates through a flexible editorial model based on concurrent calls for papers. Alongside each rotating thematic call—focused on emerging issues such as artificial intelligence, tropical architecture, or material ecologies—the journal maintains a permanently open call welcoming high-quality submissions on any topic relevant to contemporary architectural thought and practice. A third strand invites pedagogical and experimental contributions, highlighting the importance of teaching, studio culture, and design research in shaping architectural discourse.

After publication of number 25 in December 2025, REIA is entering a renewed phase of editorial rigor, international visibility, and technological modernization. With the adoption of Open Journal Systems (OJS) and a broadened curatorial approach, the journal positions itself as a critical reference for scholars and practitioners seeking to rethink architecture as a dynamic, responsive, and forward-looking discipline.

It is published twice a year, in June and December.
