Abstract

The menopause causes a deterioration of the mood state and, therefore, of the quality of life. There are studies that try to analize the modifications of the mood state caused by the menopause, in sedentary and physical active women. The objective of the present study is to value the long term effect that produces a program of aerobic exercise on the mood state of a group of sedentary menopausal women. They carry out a program of aerobic exercise of 24 weeks of duration, with a frequency of 3 days per week, during 60 minutes a day. We evaluated the profile of mood state through the questionnaire POMS, before and after the period of activity, being a significant decrease in the punctuations obtained in tension, depression and anguish. Therefore, we could conclude that this type of program of physical activity produces positive modifications in the profile of mood state, in sedentary menopausal women.
