Abstract

The design strategy of “forme d’égale résistence”, inherited and applied by Jean Prouvé as transfer of l’École de Nancy principles, means a natural beginning to translate forge master’s will of fluid form into locksmith’s work on modelling and assembly. Prouvé’s commitment for material and energy efficiency brings his structural proposals to the path of a family related to him by Peter Rice’s text, “An Engineer Imagines”, the family of natural engineers. As a result of a long tradition, where structure is understood as the main expression of architecture form, Jean Prouvé’s approach would find close references to his material intuition in the works of some of these builderengineers. Trying to give an answer to the new possibilities of modern times, creators of a new building language, all of them would get aware of their “common entrance into a new action system on matter”.
