The Marathon is a test that demands a great level of performance to achieve it, such effort is developed through the training regimes that coaches design. This training programs are commonly incorporated by long running volume thorough the Schedule to achieve the physiological adaptations needed. Mexican recreational runners who wish to run a Marathon confront multiple difficulties, such as, training adherence, time availability, and flexibility on the running volume. The present investigation intends to develop a low volume running training program which let this population to fulfill it so it gives the performance enough to run a Marathon. In a 17 weeks intervention, 15 people participated (13 men, 2 women) of which 13 tested a Marathon race and 10 made it through the end. A running volume of 400 kms with an average of 23 km per week was used and it seems to cover the needs to run a Marathon. More variables like intensity, strength training and individualization must be considered to obtain better performanceDownloads
