Abstract

Data shows the grow-up of the number of padel players in Spain. However, few data exist about this sport nowadays and are mainly related with competition demands: internal workload and external workload. Thus, the objective of this document is to present how the researchers have quantified these efforts and perform a physiology description about padel with the studies analyzed. A review in Pubmed, Web of Science y Scopus was performed. Temporal variables, movements, types and number of shots have been used to measure the external workload. Heart rate and lactate were used to measure the internal workload. In conclusion, there are few publications about padel. However, it can be described as an intermittent sport where exist a continue cycle including short times of submaximal effort and rest time about the same duration, where have place a difficult interaction between the three energy systems.
