Abstract

In october the spanish Tribunal Constitucional sentence 194/1998 will be ten years old. This sentence obligued the phisical education teachers to be associated to their respective professional colleges, unless they were working in the state schools. This was a critical moment in the protection of the users –in this case students- of the services provided by a certain part of the professionals in this area. However, from the perspective that the time and social changes bring to us, we can assure that it has not only meant a step forward, but it has been, possibly, a certain backwards move in the rights of both professionals and consumers of sport and physical activity.
