Abstract

Due to the lack of research analyzing sprint performance in amateur female soccer players, this study examined the speed physical differences of playing positions in female amateur football players. For this, 64 players (23,86 ± 3,71 years) were examined by playing positions: central defenders (CD, n=13), full-backs (FB, n=12), central midfielders (CM, n=14), external midfielders (EM, n=13), and forwards (FW, n=12). 10 and 20 m linear sprint, sprint with change of direction (COD), as well as the repeat sprint ability (RSA) were evaluated. There were no significant differences between positions for 10 m (p = 0.273), COD (p = 0.121) and for the percentage of loss in RSA (p = 0.089). For linear speed from 0 to 20 m, differences were recorded (p = <0.005) identified them between CD with FB and EM. There were also statistically significant differences in the case of the total time in RSA (p = <0.005) between DCD with FB and EM. In addition, DC were recognized as those that registered the worst values in all the tests. Thus, coaches may organize and design specific speed training exercises.
