Experimental study with the objective of determining the utility of a prevention program of ankle sprains in amateur malesenior basketball teams. During 16 weeks of the competitive period, an specifically designed an ankle sprains protocol wasapplied according to the epidemiological study for an experimental group (n = 11, of 186 +/- 8.51 cm, 85.60 +/- 11.07 kgand 24 +/- 4.45 years) with contents related to ROM, Rebalance, Proprioception and Eccentric Strength. There were 14injuries, 5 in the experimental group (1 ankle injury) and 9 in the control (6 ankle injuries). There are no significantdifferences between the groups in relation to total or ankle injuries. There were differences in training exposure (Z = -2.71,p <0.01), physical training (Z = -2.76, p <0.01) and competition (Z = -2.19; p = 0.03), as well as intragroup between injured and non-injured players in relation to the time of exposure to training, in the experimental group (Z = -2.23, p =0.02) and in the control (Z = -2.43, p = 0.01). The proposed protocol does not influence on the prevention of ankle injuriesin male senior basketball amateur teams. There is a possible relationship between the exposure time and lesionability.Downloads
