The study aimed to analyze the service direction of the professional tennis player (wide, body and to the "T"), and show the differences between the performance (winner and loser) in two different surfaces (hard in US Open and grass surface in Wimbledon). A total of 256 matches were analyzed. The data was obtained from the official websites of the tournaments. The variables related to the service direction were analyzed by calculating mean (M) and standard deviation (SD). The Wilcoxon test was used to compare winners and losers of the match. The results show that in Wimbledon the winners perform a lower percentage of services to the wide areas of the court than the losers while the females make greater use of the serve to the body. In US Open, from the advantage side, the winner performs the highest percentage of services to the ''T'' and, however the winners make the services to the central area with the first service, and the ''T'' with the second service. These results could be used as a guide for coaches in setting training goals.Downloads
