Abstract

At the moment, the society in which we live invites young people to a sedentary life, impregnated by north american culture (fast food, stress, Video-games, computers,….) and by high technology. Increasing rates of infantile obesity means a restless alarm to us due to enclosed problems. Considering this social problem we have carried out an empirical study with which we approach to the behavior of physical, clinical and physical activity variables, distinguishing between both sexes. The sample is composed of a group of fifty students, ages 14 to 18, in which variables previously mentioned have been analyzed. Regarding to physical activity, results show boys seeing themselves regularly active in 45.5% of the situations, whereas girls do it in almost 60%of them, although girls are the ones considering physical activity less important to maintain a healthy life, in relation to boys. Most of the students, boys and girls, exercise during their free time, 84% in boys and 64.7% in girls, whereas those not doing it enough consider lack of time the main reason.
